Born in 1981 in Brussels, Belgium, Lex falls in love with music at the age of 6, when Santa Claus brought him a little electric piano. While playing his brand new toy and listening to his parents’ old blues and jazz records, it quickly becomes obvious that he wants to learn music to enjoy it and make it enjoyable for others.
He starts school of music at the age of 8 where he will, during almost 20 years, learn piano, bass, music theory and harmony alongside renowned virtuosos such as Osvaldo Salas (Argentina, classical piano), Vincent Bruyninckx (Belgium, jazz piano) and Paolo Loveri (Italy, jazz bass).
In 1997, he discovers UK house music in voguish clothes stores of London. This will be the birth of an unconditional love for electronic music and rhythm. He begins producing his own tracks as well as composing for various projects, performing live in Belgium, France, Luxemburg and The Netherlands.
He decides to stay close to the music by studying sound engineering at the Belgian renowned school IAD and will graduate in 2003 with the congratulations of the jury. He learns deeply behind the mixing desks of music industry, live performances, TV and radio broadcasting as a sound engineer and a composer.
In between, his musical universe takes shape and incorporates big chunks of house, electro and jazz. He mixes efficiently styles, harmonies and electronic rhythms to create his very own sound.
In late 2009, Lex kicks off his solo project. Since then, he has already released two remixes, namely JD Davis vs Telex – Moscow Discow and JD Davis – Promised Land 2010, both available on Beatport. He is currently working on hir first release that will be available in early 2011 on his own, brand new record label : Redefine Records.
